UFC Fight Island 4 Betting Breakdown

Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of BinK iT. This week I would like to do something different. I have been an MMA fan since the early 2000’s and have watched almost every single event out there. The UFC dominates the market and for a good reason. They constantly put on a show regardless of what is happening around the world and all thanks should go to the man himself Dana White. I have so much respect for this person and what he has done to the sport. For this write up, I want to focus on 7 fights that I have done enough tape study to be able to make a good read and come out with great results.

Undercard

Casey Kenney vs. Heili Alateng

I really like Casey Kenney in this Fight. Both these guys like to grapple, but Kenney is much better at it. Alateng does not impress me at all from the fights I've watched. I sure do give him the power advantage here but I don't believe it should matter as Kenney fights smart and doesn't put himself in bad situations. Alatand also has a suspect chin and for that reason I will go with Casey Kenney to pick a win by decision or finish in the 2nd round.

Joshua Culibao vs Charles Jourdain

I’ll keep this one short. I love Charles Jourdain in this spot. The UFC threw him, a guy which I believe doesn't belong in the big leagues. Air Jourdain has the advantage everywhere. He can finish this by KO or Sub. I don't see Culibao surviving as we have just seen him get finished by the tarantula and I think Charles can do the same thing here.

Main Card

Dequan Townsend vs Dusko Todorovic

Man, I am not impressed by either of these fighters. Todorovic is a grinder, his striking is ok but he does leave a lot of openings to be hit. On the other side we have Townsend, a guy that does not really do much. He likes to back up to the fence and accept what his opening brings to the table. In this fight, I see Todorovic backing him up the whole fight and grinding out a decision in the end.

Kyler Phillips vs Cameron Else

I like what I see from Philips, he is a high volume striker with good takedowns and grappling. On the side, we have Else and I honestly saw nothing when I watched his tapes. He likes to look for the finish but he is no where near UFC level and he should get outclassed in this matchup. In the end I see Philips winning the fight inside the distance.

Germaine de Randamie vs Julianna Peña

This your typical striker vs grappler match up. I am a big fan of GDR, her striking is immaculate and the way she sets her shots is just beautiful to watch. On the other side, we have Pena the grinder. She likes to put her opponent on the fence and look for takedowns to control the fight or get the sub. In this fight, I see GDR being too big for Pena. She will stuff the takedown and pick her shots to earn a close decision in the end.

Yorgan De Castro vs Carlos Felipe

Both these guys are strikers and like to look for the finish. Both are honestly low level but De castro definitely looks like the better fighter. He has more volume and brings heavy legs kicks to the table that can really sting an opponent in the later rounds. I just don't see anything from felipe besides a fluky KO because this is a heavyweight fight in the end. The pick here is De Castro by KO or decision.

Holly Holm vs Irene Aldana

I really like this match up. Both girls want to come to this fight and strike. Holly is a more technical fighter but Aldana has the volume on her side. Based on the competition they have faced, you have to favor Holm here. She has fought the much better competition and always shows that she can find a way to eke out a decision. Aldana can pose problems when it comes to volume. But, in the end I see the preacher daughter coming out with a close win.

Final Picks

Casey Kenney

Charles Jourdain

Dusko Todorovic

Kyler Phillips

GDR

Yorgan De Castro

Holly Holm
